Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, has made a bold statement to correct historical inaccuracies regarding the appointment of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the Bank of Ghana.
Contrary to popular belief, Sam George has clarified that it was not former President John Agyekum Kufuor who brought Bawumia to the central bank, but rather Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, the former Finance Minister under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on the issue on tv3 new day Sam George set the record straight, explaining that Dr. Bawumia was hired by Dr. Duffuor as a research assistant at the Bank of Ghana.
He further pointed out that Bawumia’s PhD thesis, which earned him his doctorate, focused on the economic transformation of Ghana under President Jerry John Rawlings, not under Kufuor, as some have claimed.
“This is the truth,” Sam George emphasized, urging the public to acknowledge the accurate history. “Bawumia’s academic work and his entry into the Bank of Ghana were due to Dr. Duffuor’s decision, not Kufuor’s,” he said.
The Ningo-Prampram MP’s remarks are aimed at dispelling the narrative often used by NPP supporters to link Bawumia’s career solely to Kufuor’s administration.
