The vice president and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to reduce the cost of data if elected president.
According to Dr. Bawumia, if elected he wants to reduce the cost of data for Ghanaian youth in the country.
Speaking on a campaign platform he stated, “The youth I know you all want mobile phones, I will bring down the prices of mobile phones, with no taxes on mobile phone imports, we are bringing down the import duties and we are eliminating the import duties on mobile phones”.
“So mobile phone prices will come down for you and the cost of data, we are going to bring down the cost of data, the cost of data for our youths”, he added.
The high cost of data subscription has been an issue of public discussion in Ghana for some time now, however, that has not been solved since and has now become an avenue for campaign promises ahead of the 2024 December elections.
