The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate aspirant, Abdul Karim Hussein in the Yendi constituency, has declared his intentions to break away from the party.
The politician who is displeased by the party’s handling of the Yendi parliamentary primaries says he will contest the Yendi seat as an independent candidate.
According to him, the incumbent MP for the constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama was imposed on them, adding that “the rule of law does not support that.”
With a teeming number of supporters backing him, he told the party hierarchy, “We need them to understand that the people choose the leader but not them.”
He clarified that he is not going against the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, but rather against the selection of Farouk Aliu Mahama as parliamentary candidate for the 2024, December 7 elections with his decision to contest the seat on an independent ticket.
