Mr Michael Asare Bediako has been appointed by President Akufo- Addo as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA).
Michael worked as the Special Assistant and Technical Advisor to former finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta from February 2017 to November 2021 but was sacked after alleged claims came up that he was using the finance minister’s office to make money.
His current appointment which is in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 15 (2) of the Millennium Development Authority Act, 2006 (Act 702) is contained in a letter dated 12 September 2024 and signed by the secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, and copied to the Vice President.
The Chief of Staff, Minister for Finance, Minister for Food and Agriculture, Minister for Trade and Industry, Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission and the Board chairperson of the Millennium Development Authority were also copied in the letter.
“I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you to act as the Chief Executive Officer of Millennium Development Authority (the `Authority”), pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the Governing Board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” the appointment letter read.
His appointment is for a period of four (4) years, effective 11 September 2024.
Michael Asare Bediako hold a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, United States, MSc in International Finance from the University of Amsterdam Business School, B.A. in Law and International Relations and LLM in Corporate and Commercial law from the Maastricht University, in the Netherlands.
