The National Democratic Congress’ Director of Legal Affairs, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, has come hard at the government of Akufo-Addo for misappropriation of state money to dig a ‘hole’ for the National Cathedral.
Lawyer Tamakloe’s outburst came on his reaction to the recent report by Afro barometer on the increasing rate of unemployment in the country. He reacted in disbelief expressing that the building of the national cathedral could have been effectively used to provide jobs for the youth rather than digging a hole.
“It is the height of madness to use $58 million to dig a hole. If $58 million is Akufo-Addo’s hard earned money, would he use it to dig a hole?” he said.
According to him, the misappropriation of funds by the government in the name of building a cathedral has caused a lot of pain in the heart and minds of most Ghanaians. He questioned the sanity of the Akufo-Addo led government for digging a hole with such an amount of state money at the expense of unemployed Ghanaian youth.
“If you dig a hole with $58 million, will your sanity not be questioned?” he quizzed.
Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe further raised eyebrows with a revelation on the government spending an amount of $2 million on the sky train project, yet there is no sky train and the money has gone under the train. He also revealed another $2 million dollars that was paid to mortal angel by the government for the motorway job and there is no evidence of it.
“We have a situation that this government decided that they were going to use $2 million on a sky train. That money is locked up with the company, no sky train. We are also told that this government spent another $2 million to mortal angel for the motorway job, it never happened”, he added.
