President Akufo-Addo has boldly told the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress John Mahama to declare his stands on galamsey.
According to President Akufo-Addo, John Mahama keeps changing his statement on the galamasey menace when he speaks to Ghanaians about the issue.
Addressing the people of the Northeast on the President’s tour of the region he said, “Somebody who wants to be president can’t change his mouth, one side of his mouth is saying one thing the other is saying another it is not good for Ghana”,
“In the 2020 election after the government had acted on the galamsey, he (John Mahama) went around all the mining districts in Ghana to tell them that when he comes he would give amnesty to anybody who had been attacked by the galamsey issue by my government”, Akufo-Addo claimed
The President of Ghana further revealed that his government pay for their fight against galamsey, saying, “It is not surprising that the NPP lost in all those mining constituencies, but now he is saying that when he comes, he will enforce the galamsey laws we want the four times NDC presidential candidate to come clean and tell us where he stands”
“This is what I meant when I say I was prepared to put my presidency on the line, I was prepared to take the political risks in dealing with galamsey”, Akufo-Addo reiterated.
