According to John Mahama the NDC becoming the new majority in parliament is a sign from God, and they must make it a reality on 7th December 2024.

Speaking on a campaign platform in Kpone-Katamanso, John Mahama said, “So for me, God is even showing a sign of what is going to happen because even before we have cast one single ballot the NDC has become the majority, but we have to make it a reality on 7th December 2024 and that is when the people of Ghana are going to cast their vote, and I know that 7th December 2024 is going to be a watershed event that will change the course of Ghana’s history”.

He also detailed that the event in parliament yesterday 17 October 2024 was a historic one, saying, “If the report, I am hearing from parliament is true then something historic has just happened, the report I am hearing is that the Speaker has declared four seats vacant of the Four seats, three are from the NPP and one is from the NDC so if those seats have been declared vacant, then it means in the life of one parliament the minority has turned into the majority, and then the majority has turned into the minority”.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, yesterday 17 October 2024 officially declared four parliamentary seats vacant. They include Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah of Amenfi Central (NDC), Andrew Amoakoh Asiama of Fomena, Kojo Asante of Suhum (NPP), and Cynthia Morrison of Agona West (NPP).

This follows a formal petition submitted by Haruna Iddrisu, an NDC MP, to the Speaker, this led to the NPP majority now being declared the minority in parliament.
