Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has empathically stated that he will not compromise his stance on mining on water bodies even if it will cost him his seat.
The MP who is strongly against mining on water bodies, assured his constituents that he will not oversee the mining on water bodies in the area, as it is their source of life.
According to him, there are a faction of people asking the ruling government to let mining on water bodies continue “if not..if we tell them to stop they won’t vote for us. I want to tell you plainly, if an MP somewhere will allow mining on their water bodies and destroy them, those of us in Ofoase Ayirebi will not allow people to mine on our water bodies and destroy them,” he told his constituents during a campaign event.
The legislature pledged to continue funding raids on water bodies in the constituency to stop any and all form of mining on water bodies in the area.
