Cynthia Morrison, the independent candidate for Agona West, has pledged to press on with her campaign following an alleged assassination attempt at a recent rally at Aagona Nykurom that left several of her supporters injured by gunfire.
She emphasized the importance of staying connected with her constituents, asserting that her commitment to serving the community remains unwavering.
On Sunday, October 27, 2024, Morrison shared details of an alleged attack during her campaign. Reports indicate that supporters of Agona West NPP Parliamentary Candidate Chris Arthur and Morrison’s team encountered each other while campaigning in the same area, leading to heightened tensions and a clash that resulted in alleged gunfire.
Four individuals were injured, two of whom sustained gunshot wounds. Speaking on GHone on October 28, Morrison did not confirm the incident as an assassination attempt, explaining that she did not hear any gunshots due to her proximity to the loud music at the rally.
The MP, who is contesting as an independent candidate after previously winning her seat under the NPP, recounted the events of the evening: “Yesterday evening, we were at a program when we saw a convoy approaching.
I didn’t recognize the vehicle until it got closer and I saw the branding of the Parliamentary Candidate Chris Arthur.”
