Coventry City has appointed Chelsea legend Frank Lampard as their new head coach.
While some football lovers have applauded Lampard’s appointment, some have expressed skepticism about the future of the club, believing Lampard is the wrong man for the job.
They argue Lampard has had a mediocre managerial career so far, having managed Derby County, Everton and Chelsea, twice.
@Rizy_LFC took to X to say “Coventry downfall starts today” under a post made by Coventry to announce Lampard’s appointment.
Coventry who are 2 points away from relegation believe Lampard who has been away from football management for about 18 months is the one to save the club.
Lampard’s last experience as a manager came as Chelsea’s interim boss, seeing out the 2022-23 campaign at Stamford Bridge. He has also managed at Derby and Everton, meaning he returns to the Championship vastly more experienced than when he started his managerial journey with the Rams in 2018.
It was only 18 months ago that Coventry made it to the play-off final and Lampard would love nothing more than to get them back into a position that would allow them to challenge for a place in the Premier League once again.
