Charles Nti Denkyira a businessman has been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Seth Frimpong the prosecutor narrated the incident, on October 2021, Frank Owusu Fordjour, a Ghanaian in the UK and a childhood friend of Baah Kofi Ofori contacted him by phone and persuaded him to invest $60,000 into a pharmaceutical business he was running with the Richard Atuahene and the accused Denkyira in Ghana.
The man based in the UK Fordjour asked Ofori his friend to give the money to Denkyira to be given to Atuahene his fellow business partner.
Richard Atuahene called and notified him of receiving the money, later the complainant was unwilling to proceed with the arrangement and called Richard to return his money.
Richard Atuahene the business partner of the accused informed him he had already given the money back to the accused Charles Nti Denkyira to be processed that night. Calls to get the money back from the accused proved futile as he never showed up and went hiding.
The accused was later arrested after the complainant was filed, and he refunded $11,000 to the police.
The accused was granted bail and told to report occasionally to assist investigation, but he failed to do so.
The 48-year-old businessman pleaded not guilty to charges of stealing and is scheduled to reappear before the court on October 15, 2024, the case was presided over by Mr. Isaac Addo.
