A youth group of the Asanteman calling themselves the Concerned Youth of Asanteman have shredded the National Democratic Congress and Dela Edem over comments directed towards the former president John Agyekum Kufuor.
Their comment comes after NDC communication team member Dela Edem asserted that the Ex-president Kufuor was in a wheelchair because of his evil deeds when he was a president.
Nana Agyenim Boateng, popularly known as Gyataba Spoke on behalf of the group and stated that the comments made by Dela Edem are derogatory remarks with utmost seriousness.
According to them, since the NDC and John Mahama have not publicly dissociated themselves, it is a tactic of the NDC and John Mahama ahead of the December polls.
He claimed the NDC has a longstanding tradition of undermining the “Asante People” alleging that the current development is part of the “grand agenda” by the NDC to keep to its tradition of denigrating Asantes for political gain.
The Concerned Youth of Asanteman further issued a 24-hour ultimatum for Mr. Dela Edem to immediately retract the offensive comments and provide an unqualified apology to Mr. Kufuor.
They further urged Asante’s to come out and vote massively for the NPP in the December polls.
Meanwhile, the NDC, through a press statement, asserted the comments are unsavory and distasteful and therefore refreshing to note that their comrade in question Dela Edem has duly retracted his statements and rendered an unqualified apology.
