Dr. Ayew Afriyie the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore has threaten to deal with any anti galamsey protest who dares step foot in Kumasi to protest.
The new owner of Ghanaweb vowed to deal with anti galamsey protesters when he appeared on a campaign platform in Kumasi saying, “Is galamsey happening in Accra? Are the river bodies in Accra? come to Kumasi and do your demonstration like you will be study”.
The Chairman of the Parliament Health committee, Dr Ayew Afriyie also send a strong warning to protesters that protesting in Kumasi will not be tolerated.
The MP further accused the opposition NDC, he said, “The NDC saw that we NPP were winning the seats in the mining areas. So, they decided to go and import foreigners and engage in illegal mining on our waterbodies. The whole waterbodies have not been a problem and just started one month ago”.
Dr. Ayew Afriyie comments comes after some 54 protesters were arrested in Accra by the Ghana Police Service and subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit a crime are currently in remand waiting for their court hearing.
