Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Seidu Abubakar alias Mba has demanded his possessions seized by the government when he was arrested in connection with the kidnapped Canadian girls saga in 2019.
Seidu Abubakar in an interview on Onua TV disclosed that sums of $1,000, Ghc600,000, Ghc600, two bottles of perfume and his range rover were seized by National Security operatives when he was arrested in connection with the kidnapping case.
The staunch NPP member expressed sadness over how the party treated him and accused him of being a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when he was a well known NPP member.
Four people; Seidu Abubakr, Abdul Nasir, Safiano Abubakar and Abdul Rahman Suleman were initially charged for allegedly conspiring with the rest to kidnap the young ladies who were in the country for humanitarian purposes. They were also accused of demanding a ransom of $800,000 from their parents.
However, the Attorney General’s office dropped the charges against the four, citing a review of the docket prepared by investigators, and went ahead to charge four others with the crime.
Mba, who has followed the NPP for twenty (20) years said, “I don’t want to even go there. They should just give me my money and all my things. I would’ve kept silent over this but not anymore. I won’t allow them to do that. They should give me my money if they don’t want me to say anything.”
“I had Ghc600,000 plus Ghc600 and over 20 passports in my letterbox. They told my range rover had been towed from Kumasi to Accra. They said colonel Opoku said I can go and to prison and if I am released after 50 years I can come for my belongings,” he added.
