Days after the announcement of Roman Fada a the Party’s New Flag bearer and Candidate, following the death of their Founder, Madam Akua Donkor, the Ghana Freedom party, (GFP) has officially withdrawn from the Presidential race.
In a official letter written to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, signed by the National Organizer, the decision to withdraw from the election came a difficult one but very necessary. According to the party, their withdrawal is to posthumously honor the commitment and sacrifices of their late leader, Madam Akua Donkor.
The party also states that, it seeks to honor their late leader as the only person to send her candidature to the grave. They further promised readiness and availability to participate in future elections that will be organized by the Electoral Commission.
This new development with few days to election will only result in the reshuffling of positions on the ballot paper, signaling that the National Democratic Congress’s John Dramani Mahama risks his highly commercialized and advertised number 8.
