A bold galamseyer has called on the government to help him drain stagnant water from his pit to continue his galamsey work.
According to the galamseyer he has been trying for a week now to drain the stagnant water left by the rains but to no avail.
He said, “We slept and woke up, but we didn’t hear good news. The small galamsey I had been doing, when I woke up today, I came to my site, and the rain filled up my pit, it destroyed all my galamsey equipment”.
“We are begging the government, whoever ever sees this video, to tell government officials to come to my aid to drain the stagnant water from the pit and allow me to continue my work, I am begging you. I have been draining this water for one week now, and still, it is not leaving, I beg I need machines to help me drain the water so I can continue my galamsey”, he added.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has since in a press statement dated October 9, 2024, directed the Minister for Defense to deploy additional military forces to intensify the ongoing “Operation Halt”, which aims to curb illegal mining activities.
