It has emerged that the Bank of Ghana governor Ernest Addison takes home a whopping GHS136k salary monthly.
According to Financial analyst and economist Scott Bolshevik, the BoG governor despite 2022 and 2023 fiscal years Ghana’s central bank losses exceeding GHC70 billion Ernest Addison still receives over $8000 monthly which is a GHS136k in Ghana’s cedis in salary every month.
The Financial analyst further asked Ghanaians if the NPP government could be trusted to manage its finances for the next 4 years after nothing was done to the BoG governor after heavy pressure was mounted on him, by Ghanaians and opposition parties demanding his removal from his role in the central bank’s losses.
Scott Bolshevik, well known for his constant commentary on issues relating to Ghana on X, particularly on the economy, on his X page and wrote, “In 2022 and 2023 fiscal years, Ghana’s central bank reported losses exceeding GH70 billion. Despite this, the governor still receives over $8,000 monthly, along with GH512k allowances each year. Would you trust such a government to manage your finances for the next 4 years?”
Meanwhile, reports suggest the Governor of the Bank of Ghana is the highest salary that any government appointee takes home monthly. Dr. Ernest Addison is the man who supervises the entire banking sector in Ghana.
