A swarm of bees invaded the Sunyani Central Mosque on Friday, October 18, 2024, stopping Muslims from offering their Jummah prayers there.
According to an eyewitness, the scenes at the Sunyani Central Mosque were like the world was coming to an end with the bees attacking women and children coming to the mosque to pray.
The bee’s invasion caused panic and chaos among worshippers.
An eyewitness at the Sunyani Central Mosque speaking about what happened at the scene said, “, On Friday we Muslims were about to have Jummah prayers, what happened at the Sunyani Central Mosque will surprise you, Bees spread at the Zongo one-way and the Mosque anyone who came over there for prayers was sacked by the bees, the swarm of bees attacked women and her child, the number of people the bee attacked I do not even understand, it was as if the world was coming to an end”.
A prompt response from the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Ambulance Service helped manage the situation.
According to Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Kwame Adomako Antwi, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional GNFS, who confirmed the incident to the media, he noted that some fire personnel were not spared from the bee stings and revealed that all victims received medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the Muslims who say their Jummah prayers at the Sunyani Central Mosque expressed their shock at the incident revealing that such an event had never happened at the mosque before.
