The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has alleged that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, and his family were affiliated with the NDC and that Bawumia joined the NPP using a forged party identity card.
He also mentioned that Dr. Bawumia’s older brother served as Ghana’s ambassador to Burkina Faso during the presidency of Prof. John Atta Mills, adding that his mother was also NDC women organizer for Walewale while his father was also a Council of State Chairman.
Speaking at Sewua as part of his campaign tour of the Ashanti region, he further stated that the Vice President’s two junior brothers had sought positions within the NDC, including District Chief Executive and Parliamentary Candidate.
Asiedu Nketia also indicated that Bawumia secured scholarship to study abroad through his father’s position as Council of State Chairman, and upon his return, was offered a job at the Bank of Ghana.
The NDC Chairman expressed doubts about Bawumia’s integrity, suggesting that if he could join the NPP using a forged party card, it is not surprising that he has been untruthful as Vice President.
Asiedu Nketia noted that NPP members are aware that if Dr. Bawumia is elected as President, he will continue to lie because they have taught him how to do so.
He criticizes the NPP for choosing Bawumia as their running mate, despite his NDC ties and northern background, while simultaneously labeling the NDC as a party for Northerners
