A leading member of the Movement for Change Solomon Owusu has revealed that Hubtel Ghana belongs to Dr. Bawumia who serves as a middleman for ECG revenue collection.
In a viral video Solomon Owusu stated, “the money we pay do not go to ECG directly, it goes to a company called Hubtel, ask whether Hubtel does not belong to Bawumia. Hubtel takes the money before they give them to ECG, and they take a percentage out of it”.
Solomon Asante alleged that Hubtel are managing Ghana’s meters, and they do whatever they want with it. “ECG internally developed an app because of corruption and greed they said ECG can’t add visa features they were not taking Ghanaians anything but now they have given the contract to Hubtel”.
The Electricity Company of Ghana and Hubtel have been in the news recently for reporting different figures in ECG payment to Hubtel to develop an app.
It has been alleged that the US$25 million paid for the app was outrageous and could have been done with US$20,000.
