Yaw Asani Tano, a member of the NDC communications team has stated that, should the NPP canvass 74% of votes from the Ashanti Region, then indeed the region will become the country’s problem in election
According to him, there is a widespread idea in Ghana and even making trends on TikTok that, Ghana’s biggest problem in election is the Ashanti Region. He emphasized on the source of the trend emanating from the historical tradition of the United Party which is the foundation of the NPP tracing its beginning from the heart of the Ashantis, Manhyia.
He said, it has become one characteristic of the Ashantis to always support the NPP devoid of who the party presents as their Presidential Candidate, due to the history of the UP tradition. He highlighted that, the Ashantis are well known for claiming ownership of something and when they do, hardly do they have a change of mind.
He bemoaned how the Ashanti Region under President Akufo-Addo has seen less development despite they being the party’s vote bank. Based on that, Mr. Asani Tano is of the hope that, the region deny the NPP their massive support on December 7, to change the narrative about them.
He further shared that, for the NPP picking a presidential candidate from another region and for the government allowing galamsey to destroy their beautiful water bodies alone, should be a strong point for them to betray the party. He urged them to deny the NPP their expected percentage of votes to change the narrative Ghanaians share about them being Ghana’s election problem
