Favour Ugwe a 28-year-old commercial sex worker (Asahwo), has been jailed eight years for human trafficking.
The convict was found guilty of recruiting a young lady from Chad age 19 for prostitution. Ugwe was ordered to pay GH¢5,000 as compensation to the victim.
The convict admitted to engaging the victim from Abuja, Nigeria, with the help of another Nigerian man, and paying for her passage to Ghana. She however pleaded not guilty to the charge of human trafficking.
The case presided over by Mrs. Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong, said the accuse lacked remorse during the trial proceeding, while considering her age and being a first-time offender and the months spent in police custody.
