The Minerals Commission boss made this revelation when he appeared before the Parliament’s Government Assurances Committee today.

“We have reported severally that behind the Anyinam police station, people are doing some down there which we have not permitted. How come the police are not taking action?”

According to him, regardless of reports made to the police, no action has been taken.

Martin Ayisi brushed away calls of ceasing to issue new mining licences, stating that illegal mining will take place whether new licenses are issued or not.

However, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who chairs the committee however opposed the stance, indicating it is critical the commission suspends the issuance of mining licenses.
