The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has declared the Movement for Change presidential candidate Alan Kyeremanten has betrayed the NPP and former President Kufuor.
According to Chairman Wontumi, Alan Kyeremanten through his actions has shown he never loved the NPP and has betrayed former President Kufuor in the process.
This comes after Alan Kyeremanten expressed his strong disapproval of former president John Agyekum Kufuor endorsing NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2024 elections.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, November 21, 2024, Chairman Wontumi stated, “One gentleman who was with us called Alan Kyeremanten, has shown clearly through his actions that he has never loved the NPP, and just as Judas betrayed Jesus, that is how Alan Kyeremanten has betrayed the NPP and President Kufuor,” he stated during a press conference on Thursday, November 21, 2024”.
“It was J.A. Kufuor who saw you, Alan Kyeremanten. The power to appoint is reserved for the president, and he gave you the role of ambassador, after which he made you a minister for trade. Akufo-Addo, during his term, also gave you the position of trade minister again. Akufo-Addo, in his second term, gave you the position again,” Wontumi added.
Chairman Wontumi further alleged that the presidential candidate of the Movement for Change Alan Kyeremanten was ungrateful and a traitor who sold out the NPP and former President John Agyekum Kufuor to their opponents, the National Democratic Congress ahead of the 2024 elections.
