The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has said President Akufo-Addo needs to resign after failing in the fight against galamsey.
Speaking to TV3 in an exclusive interview, John Mahama stated boldly that all NPP party executives have a concession and are also engaged in community mining.
John Mahama said, “If we were in some other jurisdiction he would have resigned by now, by his words he put his presidency on the line because now his own people have been found to be the ones engaged in galamsey”.
“All the party executives have concessions and they are doing illegal mining in forest reserves, it is a pity but it is close to home that is why he can’t deal with it, if you go to the districts they talk about community mining, Community mining it is the NPP party executives and the DCE who are doing the community mining, they are the ones doing what they are doing”, he reiterated.
John Mahama noted that President Akufo-Addo’s people are involved in galamsey hence his inability to fight it.
The presidential candidate of the NDC also added, “Actions speak louder than words. Our river bodies are still in the coffee color that they were, maybe they were milo before now they are looking like coffee now getting darker”.
He also revealed that they know who is doing galamsey alluding to the fact that Changfan machines are not something that can be put in a handbag and easily moved around and boldly stated that Akufo-Addo has failed when it comes to illegal gold mining.
