The CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey has stated that it is shocking for President Akufo-Addo not to comment on galamsey after the GJA president’s speech describing the situation as a major blow to the heart.
Dr. Ashigbey indicated that even the keynote speaker who is Nigerian commented on the scourge of galamsey that is eating us all as a people.
Speaking in an interview with 3 news, Dr. Ashigbey stated, “this is a president when we started this fight in 2017, he joined in and declared his preparedness to put his presidency on the line, this is a president when it came to covid crisis he carried the entire nation along with himself by constantly updating as on the happenings. You have a situation even award winners at the event were focus on the fact that we needed to stop genocidal crisis that is confronting us as a nation”.
The CEO further added, saying “so when you had the GJA president demonstrate so much courage and an understanding of the issue that are at hand and specifically makes the point that the president is the command in Chief he has the power to able to end this scourge that is confronting us”.
Dr. Ashigbey added it was the opportune time for the President to tell the nations his plans to stop the galamsey menace. “For me it was a major pain that his excellency the president did not say anything at all about the crisis that is confronting us as a people, the silent has already been too loud, but for me that evening when he did not comment it was for me a major blow to the heart.
