President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has come up with a five-member ad hoc ministerial committee to engage stakeholders and assess the government’s efforts in solving issues around illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
Galamsey which has become a major issue has made various unions and associations call on the president to declare a state of emergency to address the crisis more efficiently.
In a notice released on Friday, September 13, Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar disclosed that National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah will chair the committee, supported by four other ministers.
At the instruction of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a five-member ad hoc ministerial committee has been established to engage stakeholders and review the government’s efforts in combating illegal mining in Ghana.
The committee is chaired by the National Security Minister, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, with the following members:

3. Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Minister for Defense
4. Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Minister for Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions
5. Hon. Fatimatu Abubakar, Minister for Information.
