The vice Chairman of the Bawumia campaign team Nana Akomea has said President Akufo-Addo cannot be blamed for the National Cathedral procurement issues.
CHRAJ on 25 November, detailed their findings of the investigation into allegations of corruption and abuse of power regarding the controversial project.
According to the CHRAJ report signed by the Commissioner of CHRAJ, Joseph Whittal called on the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to interfere and cancel the contract with Ribade Company Ltd.
Nana Akomea noted one can point out that the president went back on his words, but the President is not responsible for the breaches by his appointees.
Speaking on JOY FM Super Morning Show, Nana Akomea stated, “If the president or whoever went back on their word, you can point it out, but to say that the President is responsible for the breaches by his appointees”.
“The president appointed me to a position if I went and engaged in breaches at where I was appointed how is somebody now going to say it is the President’s fault?”, he added.
Nana Akomea further added, “I am saying that as we sit here you are appointed by somebody to sit here, and the person knows that Kojo here I trust that he will work according to the provision of Journalism but if you did something that totally outrageous and then somebody says it is Kwasi Twum who appointed him is that fair like Okudzeto is trying to do”.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has been tagged a clearing agent by the opposition NDC for the alleged corrupt practices of his appointees, which were poorly handled with no proper investigations.
