Eastern Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kojo Danquah has laid the problems of Ghana at the doorsteps of Akans.
According to him, Akans has turned a blind eye to the wrongdoings happening under the watch of the President Akufo-Addo led administration.
The politician argues that this is the case because Akans predominantly align with, and are sympathizers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking to a group of people on a campaign trail, Kojo Danquah said, “We the Akans we are the problem of this country. Sorry if anybody is an Akan here. I am sorry. If anybody is an Akan here, but I am an Akan, the more reason why I have always reiterated that Akans are of the problem of this country.”
“Look if it was another government in power, and this embezzlement had happened, this country would’ve broken lose,” he added.
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has also shared similar sentiments. At a campaign event in Accra over the weekend, John Dramani Mahama stated Ghana would have erupted in chaos if unprecedented levels of corruption presided over by the President Akufo-Addo government had taken place under his watch.
These comments come on the back of unprecedented levels of corruption recorded under the President Akufo-Addo administration. Government appointees and ministers fingered in these corruption related cases have in one way or the other being cleared, regardless of the strong evidence against them.
