Member of Parliament for Agona West and current independent candidate, Cynthia Morrison has spoken out about a troubling incident during her campaign rally in Agona Nyakrom, Central Region.
The event took a dangerous turn around 7:40 PM when an unidentified gunman reportedly attempted to assassinate Morrison, but the shot missed and injured another person instead.
Addressing the rumors In an interview with GHOne, Cynthia Morrison clarified that although there were reports of gunfire, she did not hear any shots due to the loud music at the event.
She praised the police for their swift response, which ensured her safety and guided her away from the scene.
The attack occurred during a power outage, adding to the chaos and confusion.
In the aftermath, Morrison and her team sought safety at a nearby police station to report the incident.
Cynthia Morrison previously served as the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.
She is currently contesting the Agona West seat as an independent candidate after parting ways with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
