Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency and former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cynthia Morrison was hooted at by some residents of Agona Swedru.
This happened during her visit to the Agona West Electoral Commission office to submit her nomination forms for the December general elections.
Cynthia Morrison, who is running as an independent candidate after losing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary, received backlash from the crowd.
In a viral video, residents could be heard shouting in Twi, “If you have enjoyed some, let others also enjoy too,” evidently expressing their frustration and labeling her as “greedy.”
Despite the jeers, she was seen hugging several residents before and after filing her forms.
She was speculated to have been in the company of members from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), which is believed to have ignited local tensions.
