Attorney General and Minister for Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame GODFRED has revealed that African lawyers must enhance their potential as modern legal professionals to attract reputable clients, retain them over sustained periods, and position themselves as serious players in international legal transactions on the global stage.
Speaking at a prestigious international forum of legal professionals in Centro Citibanex,Mexico Mr.Dame emphasized the urgent need for African lawyers to adapt to the evolving demands of regional integration and globalization.
He underscored that in a world where virtual interactions transcend borders, African lawyers must equip themselves to work seamlessly across jurisdictions.
The global legal landscape, he noted, has shifted, making cross-border legal practice inevitable.
To remain relevant, African lawyers must rise to the challenge by providing innovative, cost-effective services and embracing the complexities of international law.
He therefore called for reforms in licensing regimes to allow lawyers to practice freely across borders, fostering a more integrated and harmonized legal system.
In his closing remarks,Mr. Dame reminded the audience of the social duty of lawyers, emphasizing the importance of pro bono work to bridge inequality and offer support to those who cannot afford legal representation.
