Renowned Ghanaian actor, Adjetey Anang has lamented at the current state of water bodies in the country which have been negatively affected due to galamsey activities.
In an interview on 3Lounge, on 3FM on Friday, the actor emphasized that it was time for drastic measures to be taken to stop galamsey activities as more lives are at risk.
He disclosed that he becomes “heartbroken” whenever he sees the current state of water bodies in the country, mainly in areas where galamsey activities are heavily being carried out.
To this end, Adjetey Anang noted that he supports any course of action geared towards the combat of the practice.
“I support these causes in making sure that we arrest this case so that lives are saved…I support all these calls in drawing attention to the ills of society and governance for us to sit up.
“It is time for us to make noise and keep making noise about this because our lives are at stake at this moment and what we are prioritising over our health and future is neither he nor there,” he said.
Sharing his thoughts on the use of demonstrations to express the displeasure with galamsey the ongoing menace, the actor stated that such form of activism must be done lawfully.
“I am a man of the law and so as long as we are doing these things within the confines of the law, we are good and we are safe but if we cross the line then we have this tug of war going on” he added.
