The minority members of parliament have alleged that the government of Ghana owes 927 students in UK over £17 million of tuition fees for 27 months.
The minority members on the Education Committee indicated government failure to meet these financial obligations has force some of the students to be withdrawn by their universities.
Dr. Clement Apaak a member of the committee speaking to Citi News indicated, “According to the students, the government owes their fees in excess of £17 million. This has not been paid. Consequently, a number of them have been withdrawn by their schools.
“Some are not being allowed to take classes in person. Some are being processed for deportation and others are under threat of being arrested and prosecuted.
He added that some male students are selling their sperms, and female students have also resorted to prostitution
