The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced that the 40th edition of National Farmers’ Day will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region.
This annual celebration serves as a key event to recognize the vital contributions of farmers and fishermen to Ghana’s economy and food security.
This year’s theme, “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” emphasizes the country’s commitment to adopting agricultural practices that address the growing challenges posed by climate change.
In a statement released on Wednesday, October 23, the Ministry also announced the organization of Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair, from November 4 to November 8, as part of the activities leading up to Farmers’ Day.
The celebration will culminate in a National Awards Night on November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honour outstanding farmers in 16 award categories.
These prestigious awards include the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer, among others, celebrating the essential role of farmers in driving the nation’s agricultural sector.
