Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar says a large number of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters in Zongo communities have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to her, Zongo communities have enjoyed overwhelming development under the NPP, hence their decision to defect to the party.
Fatimatu Abubakar who traces her roots to Moshie Zongo in the Ashanti Region mentioned some great developmental projects the community has enjoyed under the able leadership of President Akufo-Addo.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has gained new territories not just in Northern Ghana but in our Zongo communities. I was born in a Zongo community and nurtured there and I know a lot of people there and I can say an overwhelming number (of 30percent) of voters in the NDC say they are not voting for them (NDC) again,” she stated.
“They have arrived at such a stance because of development. Because they have enjoyed a lot of development under the NPP, they say they are no more voting for the NDC. When you go to Moshie Zongo in Kumasi for example, about 90 percent of the roads there were not tarred and even the bridge leading to the community always flooded when it rained. But now a good bridge has been constructed and flooding is a thing of the past.”
She added that the appealing track record of efficiency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has set over the years has made him an appealing candidate to the Ghanaian people.
Fatimatu Abubakar called on the Ghanaian populace to turn up in their numbers and vote the NPP into power come December 7, 2024.
