The three-day anti-galamsey protest ended last night on 5 October 2024 with a vigil.
With the final day of the protest calling for the end of galamsey and the release of some 53 democracy hub protesters arrested two weeks ago.
Day 3 of the protester saw a huge crowd come out in their numbers to protest with their placards with some reading “We need clean water,” “Stop galamsey now,” and “Akufo-Addo, let my people go,”
During the vigil there was a viewing section with the screening of a documentary by JoyNews’ Erastus Asare Donkor which detailed the devastating effects of galamsey.
Days 1 and day 2 saw petitions being presented to the Attorney General’s Department and the Lands Ministry.
