The Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been warned against keeping Otto Addo as coach for the Black Stars.
According to the former U-20 women’s coach Robert Sackey, Ghana may not qualify to the 2026 World Cup if Otto Addo remains at post as Black Stars coach.
He pointed out the fact that the Otto Addo and his technical setup lack the required leadership, expertise and experience to manage the team.
“I believe the problem has existed for a long time. It starts from the top. We need to make changes right from the top, beginning with the FA leadership. Our approach must change, and anything that isn’t working needs to be corrected. When we address these issues, it will positively affect the team—management, the technical staff, and the players,” he said on Asempa FM.
Tackling the technical team, he said, “The coaching staff has potential, but they lack experience. We shouldn’t be surprised by the state we find ourselves in today. If we don’t make changes to the technical team, it will be very difficult to qualify for the World Cup.”
The Black Stars put up an abysmal performance in the 2025 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers, failing to qualify for the contest.
After the failure, there have been several calls for the sacking of Otto Addo with the GFA eventually dissolving the Black Stars management committee.
