Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, an NPP flagbearer hopeful has donated Ghc 200,000 to support Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie for the re-run of the 19 polling stations.
According to reports, the Adutwum team believes Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie needs support for the seat to remain an NPP stronghold.
Adutwum’s team also wished the parliamentary candidate success in the re-run.
Also, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, has donated GHS 410,000 to the NPP’s Ablekuma North candidate.
Additionally, Bryan Acheampong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has also donated GHs200,000 to Akua Afriyie, $6,500 to coordinators and polling station chairpersons in Ablekuma North to support the rerun.
Meanwhile, Dr Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister, has stated that the military will not be deployed to the Ablekuma North constituency.
The Defence Minister emphasised that the Police are trained to handle electoral security.
In a post shared on social media, Dr Omane Boamah revealed, “To ensure a peaceful and democratic process, the Ghana Police Service will be fully in charge of security for today’s elections in Ablekuma North Constituency.
Let’s keep the peace and make our voices heard as John Dramani Mahama resets Ghana and creates more opportunities for Ghanaians”.
