Abraham Koomson, the Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), has quizzed the Awutu Senya East MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson.
According to Abraham Koomson, he feels no sympathy for Hawa Koomson after he was assaulted.
He quizzed why anyone would go to a polling station with pepper spray.
Abraham Koomson further noted that Hawa Koomson in the past has shown no remorse for her actions.
Abraham Koomson, speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu programme, quizzed, “Why would anyone go to a polling station with pepper spray? What were you expecting to happen there?”
“We’ve seen her role in previous incidents. Has she ever shown remorse for those actions?”
“We should not condone violence under any circumstances”
“But those who have previously promoted or benefited from such acts must reflect on their own actions. Maybe this is a moment of reckoning,” he added.
Chaos erupted at the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on Friday, July 11.
A group of unidentified men stormed the Methodist church polling centre, disrupting the process and creating chaos.
The machomen stormed the polling station in a coordinated manner, causing panic among voters and electoral officials.
The former MP for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hawa Koomson, was assaulted.
In a viral video of the chaotic scene, Hawa Koomson was kicked in the groin and fell to the ground with the thugs kicking her on the ground until the police intervened.
Despite the number of police officers at the scene, they were unable to prevent the chaos.
Meanwhile, Akosua Manu, a New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 parliamentary candidate for Adentan, has defended Hawa Koomson’s use of pepper spray during the Ablekuma North rerun.
According to Akosua Manu, Hawa Koomson was targeted and did not in any way provoke the confusion.
Akosua Manu claimed that the former lawmaker was at the polling station peacefully when she was attacked and used pepper spray in self-defence.
