The lead counsel for embattled NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has quizzed who Gary Nimako is in his life that he will need his trust.
Andy Appiah-Kubi asserted that the NPP’s Director of Legal Affairs, Gary Nimako, blocking him was sheer arrogance.
According to Andy Appiah-Kubi, he owes Gary Nimako no explanation and does not need his trust.
Speaking on Morning Starr, Appiah-Kubi stated, “Who is he in my life that I need his trust? And if he blocks me, he’s being arrogant. To say the least, he is my junior at practice. And he is my junior in age. And indeed, well, we all went to the University of Ghana; our records are there. I was an SRC president.”
“Notwithstanding that I had enviable academic records. Why are these words flying in my direction? Before then, he was not somebody I was speaking to all the time or many times.
“He was an occasional friend that we met. We shared a few things, and again, in the party, sometimes in the past, even before he became an appointee of the party,” he added.
It will be recalled that Gary Nimako, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of Legal Affairs, has stated he is not going to talk to lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi anymore.
According to Gary Nimako, he has blocked Andy Appiah-Kubi on his phone.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Gary Nimako stated, “I spoke with him before applying, and he later came out to say the process had been frustrated, which was unfair. How do you throw this in the air? It is not right and fair.”
“I had spoken to him prior to filing, then you later say you are not aware. I have blocked his number because if I can have a meeting with you in confidence and you act this way in public, then it means I cannot talk to you again—so I have blocked his number,” he stated.
His comments come after Andy Appiah-Kubi, a lawyer for Chairman Wontumi, threw him under the bus regarding Wontumi’s detention.
Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi has since been released from EOCO custody after meeting his bail conditions on June 2, 2025, but the back and forth between the two lawyers continues.
