Ghanaian dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, has given President John Dramani Mahama a new name.
The dancehall artist, now also a businessman, while performing at the President’s Cup, at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 6, 2025, stated, “I say Mahama you be Smiling Mafia”.
President John Mahama was also captured sharing a light-hearted moment singing along to Shatta Wale’s “Mahama Paper” during the Hearts of Oak vs. Asante Kotoko President’s Cup match.
In the viral video, John Mahama was spotted in the crowd at the Accra Sports Stadium signing along with Shatta Wale as he performed his hit song “Mahama Paper”.
Shatta Wale also stated, “From now till the next election, support this government. If you are a youth and you want to see money in your pocket, then support this government because it has come to put money in your pocket”.
Some Ghanaians have expressed their opinion on the video by saying, “ Man of the moment – John Mahama. He’s worth a statue after his term. No lie”.
“See how Farida dey watch and admire in popi that be how I want make my daughter admire me”, another added.
A netizen also noted, “Whether or not you like the Mahama brand, there’s one thing you can’t deny about it—his charm and aura. He’s naturally a likeable guy”.
“I don’t know how to put it, but there’s so much peace in the air. It’s quite refreshing, it was never like that back then!”, another X user added.
“Hummm, I am truly moved, what joy, things that cannot be produced in neighbouring countries, Ghana remains Ghana, long live democracy. Thank you, President Mahama”, one more X user added.
Additionally, a netizen suggested, “chale mahama dier after the 4 years noor then dem do ien statue for am . if dem no do we noor go do for am walahi”.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko won the President’s Cup on Sunday July 6, 2025, beating Hearts of Oak to claim a ninth trophy, extending their dominance as the most successful club in the history of the President’s Cup.
