He walked straight to his vehicle and then hugged the two lawyers before entering a silver Toyota Land Cruiser.

Kevin Taylor has, however, reacted to the Supreme Court quashing a bench warrant issued for his arrest by Justice Eric Kyei Baffour in January 2020.

The apex court, in a 4-1 majority decision, quashed a bench warrant issued for the arrest of Kevin Taylor by one judge, Justice Eric Kyei Baffour.

Kevin Taylor on X, after the Supreme Court quashed the bench warrant, wrote, “The law is the law”.

The warrant was issued by the High Court over allegations that the US-based Ghanaian Journalist Kevin Taylor made contemptuous comments against Justice Eric Kyei Baffour.

The Supreme Court today, 22nd July 2025, ruled that the warrant was unlawful and should not have been issued under the circumstances.

The Apex Court decision brings an end to the legal battle between Kevin Taylor and Justice Kyei Baffour.

Background

It will be recalled, Kevin Taylor, in a video on his online programme With All Due Respect, claimed that the elevation of Justice Kyei Baffour to the Court of Appeal was politically motivated.

He alleged that Justice Kyei Baffour acted in the interest of now President Akufo-Addo’s administration during the trial, accusing the former National Communications Authority (NCA) board members of misappropriating $4 million.

Justice Kyei Baffour described Kevin Taylor’s video as scandalous and ruled that the social commentator had impugned the integrity of the judiciary.

He then issued a warrant on Thursday, January 16, 2020, directing law enforcement to arrest Kevin Taylor and bring him before the court to answer for contempt.
