Liverpool striker Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, commonly known as Diogo Jota and his brother have both passed away due to a fatal accident in spain, reports.
Diogo Jota’s brother, André Silva, a 25-year-old Penafiel player in the Portuguese 2nd League, has also passed away following the accident.
The tragic news comes just two weeks after the 28-year-old married his long-term girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto.
According to reports, their vehicle reportedly left the road on the A-52 highway in the Zamora province and was engulfed in flames.
Diogo Jota was a celebrated Portuguese international, known for his clinical finishing, explosive pace, and dribbling ability.
He joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton Wanderers and became a vital player for Liverpool.
He helped Liverpool last season, with nine goals as they clinched the Premier League title.
His death has sent shockwaves through the football world.
