Dan Kwaku Yeboah, a renowned sports journalist has stated Thomas Partey’s rape charges timing is a calculated attempt to destroy his career.
According to Dan Kwaku Yeboah, the way the charges surfaced, he believes the person influenced Arsenal’s decision not to extend Partey’s contract.
He noted that the alleged incident happened in 2022 but was kept under wraps until he was out of the club.
The sports journalist added that the charges would negatively impact Partey’s football career, as clubs will hesitate to sign him until the case is resolved.
Speaking on Radio XYZ, Kwaku Yeboah stated, “With the way the charges surfaced, I believe the person who influenced Arsenal’s decision not to extend Partey’s contract is behind this. At this point, it will reduce his market value and discourage interested clubs.
“They have decided to destroy his career. How could something that happened in 2022 be kept under wraps until he was out of the club? This is a calculated attempt”.
“People are advising him and other men to be careful, but that may be hypocritical. Men are moved by sight, so if a woman appears naked, it’s likely the man will be aroused,” he added.
Thomas Partey broke his silence following being charged with five count of rape and one count sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police Service.
“The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives.
“The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: Five counts of rape, One count of sexual assault.”
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, said, “Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward. We would ask anyone who has been impacted by this case or anyone who has information to speak with our team. You can contact detectives about this investigation by emailing CIT@met.police.uk.”
According to reports, the offences are alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
Jenny Wiltshire, in a statement, stated, “Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name”.
The lawyer further added that Thomas will not be making any further public comments while the legal process is ongoing.
If convicted, Partey’s career and status would be in shreds.
