Joe Osei-Owusu, the former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and former Member of Parliament for the Bekwai Constituency, has said the suggestion that former President John Agyekum Kufuor was ignored is inaccurate.

Joe Wise revealed that the party respects President Kufuor immensely, but the conference arrangements had far too far to be postponed.

Joe Wise stated, “The suggestion that he was ignored is inaccurate. The party respects President Kufuor immensely, but the conference arrangements were far too progressed when his request came in”.

Also, Justin Kodua, the General Secretary for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has boldly stated that former president John Agyekum Kufuor has not been sidelined.

According to Justin Kodua, the NPP’s constitution makes all past presidents members of the National Executive Committee.

He added that Kufuor has two aides who are informed of all meetings.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Peace FM, Justin Kodua revealed, “Under the Fourth Republic, the man who first secured power for us was Kufuor, and we are proud of him as a former statesman. There is no way we would do anything and fail to inform him.

“Our party constitution makes all past presidents members of the National Executive Committee. When it comes to the National Council, all past presidents are also part. Anytime we have meetings, we invite them”.

“For former President Kufuor he has two aides, Araba Bosompem and Adu Acheampong. Every meeting we hold, we serve them notice, and they acknowledge receipt,” Kodua explained.

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has cried out about being neglected by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The former president boldly reminded the NPP that if the party still has elders, he is one of them.

John Agyekum Kufuor’s voice deep frustration over what he describes as his exclusion from key affairs of the NPP.

He emphasised that his age should not be used a a reason for the party leadership to sideline him.

Speaking in a conversation with Bryan Acheampong, an NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kufuor expressed his dissatisfaction with being ignored and sidelined by the NPP.

John Agyekum Kufuor stated, “If this party still has elders… I am one”.

“Have I deteriorated to the point where, after being fed, I’d claim I haven’t eaten? No—I haven’t reached that stage yet. My mind and memory are intact,” he added.

The former president added that he has been quiet but has been watching closely.

According to him, at least what the party can do is to keep him informed.

He added, “I’ve been quiet, but make no mistake, I’ve been watching. Closely. The least the party can do… is keep me informed. Let me hear what’s happening.”

“And now… I’m being sidelined? Ignored? I don’t understand it. I really don’t.”
