Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni has been appointed the new Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) acting Chief Executive Officer.
In a post shared by the FDA, announced the appointment of Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni.
Prof Opuni previously served as the Board Chairman of the FDA and will now succeed Dr. Delese Darko, who has served as CEO since 2017.
Dr Delese Darko is now the Director-General at the Africa Medicines Agency (AMA).
The FDA statement on Facebook stated, “The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni as its new Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective Monday, 14th July 2025.
Prior to this appointment, Prof. Opuni served as the Board Chairman of the FDA. He succeeds Dr. Delese Darko, who has served as CEO since 2017 and was recently appointed as the Director General of the Africa Medicines Agency (AMA)”.
Kwabena Opuni’s appointment takes effect from today, Monday, 14th July 2025.
The FDA, in their post, also expressed their appreciation for Dr Delese Darko.
They further extended their warmest congratulations to Prof. Opuni on his appointment and look forward to his leadership in advancing the Authority’s mandate of safeguarding public health and safety.
