Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe in a statement titled, ‘Religious Leaders Must Stay Within Their Lane—Leave Constitutional Matters Alone’, stated, “Let me state clearly and unequivocally: this must not happen, and it will not happen”.

He noted that Ghana’s constitution limit the president and can only be change through a national referendum not dreams, visions, or prophetic declarations.

Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe further warned that Ghana’s democracy must not be derailed by pulpit proclamations.

He added, “Ghanaians are looking for serious leadership… not theatrical spirituality that distorts truth and sows confusion”.

“Ghana’s peace and democratic stability must never be sacrificed for personal ambition or populist spirituality. Enough is enough. Ghana deserves better.”

Meanwhile, the NPP’s Justin Frimpong Kodua has accused the NDC and John Mahama of plotting to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo to enable President John Dramani Mahama to contest for a third presidential term.

He claimed that the argument revolves around Article 66(2) of the Constitution.

Justin Frimpong Kodua noted that some individuals are allegedly planning to interpret Article 66(2) of the Constitution in a way that implies the two-term limit applies only to two successive terms.

Also, Kwesi Pratt Jnr the managing director of the Insight Newspaper has boldly stated President John Dramani Mahama will be squarely if he ever attempts a third term.

Kwesi Pratt warned there will be strong resistance if President John Mahama attempts to run for a third term.

He however dismissed the allegation, stating that there is no suggestion that Mahama is pursuing such a plan.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Kwesi Pratt stated, “As I sit here, it is not only about President John Dramani Mahama. Any president who attempts to amend the constitution to extend their tenure beyond two terms will face strong opposition. It is not right, so if Mahama ever attempts a third term, we will fight him squarely”.

“However, there is no indication that a constitutional review is being carried out for this purpose. What kind of issue is this? When it comes to constitutional amendments, Nana Addo also formed a committee to review the constitution, does that mean he wanted a third term? Prof Mills did the same; does it mean he also sought a third term?”, he added.

Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications has dismissed an allegation made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claiming President John Dramani Mahama is plotting a third term.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President Mahama is not interested in any third term.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu is quoted by UTV to have said, “President John Mahama has no intention of running for a third term”.
