Her death has since sent the community of Edwenase into sorrow.

According to the mother of Akosua Adutwuwaa, her daughter did her household chores thoroughly and also prepared her two-year-old daughter.

Akosua was nowhere to be found after the family was about to depart for church, and a search led to the lifeless body of Akosua being found in a room.

The body of Akosua Adutwuwaa has since been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.

The Ghana  Police Service have currently initiated an investigation surrounding her death.

Meanwhile, some months ago, the now suspended Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Torkonoo, had informed Judges that attempted suicide had been decriminalised in Ghana.

According to the letter directed to all Circuit Court Judges and Magistrates, Her Ladyship Gertrude Torkonoo notified them that attempted suicide has been decriminalised by the Criminal Offences Amendment Act, 2023(Act 1092).

The letter also detailed that people who attempt suicide are no longer liable for prosecution and or conviction.

Reports by health practitioners suggest that nearly 70% of suicides in Ghana are committed by men.

Parliament amended sections of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960, which makes attempting to take one’s own life a crime to be judged as having mental health issues requiring assistance by law rather than imprisonment.
