Muntaka Mubarak, the Interior Minister and Member of Parliament for Asawase, has said the killers of the Kusasi Chief will be apprehended.
The Interior Minister condemned the killing of the Kuasasi Chief in the Ashanti Region.
Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Chief of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, has been shot and killed by a mystery gunman.
Reports suggest the incident happened on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at his residence near the Asawase F-line community centre.
According to eyewitness reports, the Kusasi Chief was shot by a gunman who arrived on a motorbike around 8:40 pm, with one handling an AK-47 rifle.
The gunman, according to the eyewitness accounts, fired at the Kusasi Chief and fled the scene afterwards.
The Kusasi Chief was rushed to Manhyia District Hospital but was later transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he died on arrival.
Abdul-Malik Azenbe was enskinned as Kadi Naaba three months ago.
DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has revealed that they will bring the mystery gunman to justice.
A statement by Muntaka Mubarak read, “It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I have received the news of the tragic killing of the Ashanti Region Kusasi Chief, Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, who also served as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region”.
“This heinous act is not only an attack on a revered traditional authority but also a grievous wound to the peace and security we all cherish”, he added.
Muntaka Mubarak added, “I want to assure the family and the people of Ghana that our security agencies are fully committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this crime are swiftly apprehended and made to face the full rigours of the law”.

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I have received the news of the tragic killing of the Ashanti Region Kusasi Chief, Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, who also served as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
As a Member of Parliament for Asawase and on behalf of the good people of the constituency, I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the Kusasi community in the Ashanti Region, and the entire traditional leadership of the Kusaug area.
This heinous act is not only an attack on a revered traditional authority but also a grievous wound to the peace and security we all cherish.
I want to assure the family and the people of Ghana that our security agencies are fully committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this crime are swiftly apprehended and made to face the full rigours of the law.
